Colin Buchanan China was established as a Wholly Owned Foreign Enterprise (WOFE) in Shanghai in January 2006, following 5 successful years of undertaking projects in China. Colin Buchanan China’s reputation is based on the groundbreaking strategic transport and land use planning work completed in 2001 for the Shanghai Municipal Government, resulting in the City’s, and China’s, first Integrated Transport White Paper. The vision is to grow Colin Buchanan China so that the full range of transport, planning and economic consultancy services that are offered in the UK can be provided by locally based teams in China. Colin Buchanan China is undertaking challenging projects for both the public and private sector clients in China, working independently and in co-operation with local design institutes. Colin Buchanan China is a recognised leader in pedestrian modelling; we have undertaken numerous studies for Beijing and Shanghai Metros, planning some of the busiest metro stations in the world. Colin Buchanan China is also advising various nations regarding their Pavilion designs ahead of the World Expo 2010 which is expected to be the most visited Expo in history. Colin Buchanan China currently employs 28 staff.
