Tourism and Heritage

There is often a close relationship between Tourism and Heritage. Heritage is all encompassing and extends to both the natural and cultural environment. Our definition of heritage and the way we manage it, in turn reflects our wider values as a society. Our special landscapes, listed buildings and townscapes, the relationship between these and the people who live there, their stories and how they are expressed are often central to the visitor offer. Tourism, on the other hand, is the largest industry in the world and can often provide the economic rationale for Heritage Management.
