In a world increasingly concerned with the impact its actions have on the environment, we feel that is it vital that business address its impact in terms of waste, recycling and equipment disposal. All Colin Buchanan offices contain waste paper recycling bins; our printers print double sided whenever possible so as to reduce the amount of paper consumed; the Company has a policy of turning all computers and monitors fully off at the end of each work day. In these ways we encourage our employees to act in a socially and environmentally responsible manner. In the wider scheme of things, all decommissioned equipment is disposed of in an auditable environmentally friendly way at the end of its service.

Our London office has been awarded a rating of Excellent under its BREEAM Offices 2006 Environmental Assessment Award.

A travel plan, the target of which is to reduce the company’s staff travel carbon footprint by 3% by 2011, has been undertaken for the whole company and is reviewed annually. We provide various incentives under this for the use of sustainable modes for travel to and from work and during the working day.

We have a profit-related charitable donation policy which is employee led. Rather than have directors choose a charity, we find that responding individually to employees personal charitable requests to be more immediate and personal, creating a true sense of community within the company. This also allows us to be more responsive to international incidents or global charitable concerns as and when they arise.
