Deprivation and Child Pedestrian Casualties in Northern Ireland

Colin Buchanan has been commissioned by the Road Safety Division of the Department of the Environment in Northern Ireland to undertake a research study to determine if there is any evidence in the region to suggest a link between child pedestrian casualties and deprivation.

The study will involve a literature review and a detailed analysis of casualty statistics.  If there is evidence of a link, the study will look at the factors which contribute to this.  If there is no evidence of a link, reasons why this should be so will be investigated.

The detailed analysis will be based on Super Output Areas of which there are 890 in Northern Ireland.
