Gosport Waterfront Masterplan

Colin Buchanan has been appointed to undertake the preparation of a delivery masterplan for Gosport Waterfront.

The study site extends to over 8 hectares from the Royal Clarence Yard, the Coldharbour site, to the Gosport Bus Station. The site, with its extensive water edge and long-distant views over Portsmouth Harbour, has the best prospects for development within the historic settlement of Gosport and has the potential to change the perception of Gosport to investors, tourists and residents within the existing catchment area. The site forms part of two gateways into Gosport and consequently has the ability to enhance the appeal and branding of the Borough.

"It is about shaping the Gosport of the future, for residents, businesses and visitors, changing both the perception and image of the area” said Cllr Mark Hook, Leader of the Council.

Part of the study will review the existing socio-economic profile of Gosport to try to identify the most viable investment and development offer that will complement and build on the strengths of more recent growth in Portsmouth. Peter Dijkhuis, Associate Director at Colin Buchanan, will be undertaking detailed consultation with the community, local businesses and land owners to inform the outcome of the study, before submitting a Development Masterplan to the Council at the end of June 2010.
