Borough-wide Transport Assessment Study for Lewisham

Colin Buchanan has been appointed by the London Borough of Lewisham to undertake a borough-wide Transport Assessment Study to inform the preparation of the council’s Core Strategy.

The London Borough of Lewisham is currently in the process of developing its Local Development Framework to which the Core Strategy is key. With major change anticipated, notably in Lewisham, Catford, Deptford and New Cross, there is a need to study transport infrastructure needs and policies on a borough-wide scale.

The broad objective of the study is to produce an integrated strategy for developing an efficient, sustainable, multi-modal transport system as a key contribution to accommodating the economic, social and environmental impacts of development policies and process in the London Borough of Lewisham.

The study will inform the strategic development options for the borough with supporting transport policies. It will also provide a strategic framework to guide investment in transport infrastructure on an area-wide and site-specific basis, including identification of potential sources of funding.

The study will link in with the current review of Council’s Local Implementation Plan (LIP) which is required by Transport for London to reflect new funding processes for 2010/11 onwards.
