Clonmel Urban Framework Plan, South Tipperary
Colin Buchanan, in association with White Young Green and Urban Fabric, was commissioned by South Tipperary County Council and Clonmel Borough Council to prepare an Urban Framework Plan for lands to the North West of Clonmel.
The Plan focused on the creation of a new urban quarter in the town with a high quality environment to provide a focus for the sustainable expansion of Clonmel.
The preparation of the plan involved an audit of social and recreational infrastructure and assessment of future requirements, stakeholder consultation and an assessment of housing land availability in Clonmel. Their framework includes an urban design strategy, a strategy for Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems, transport infrastructure requirements and guidance on sustainable and resource efficient design. The final report was completed in February 2010.
